By purchasing our products and services, the Customer acknowledges and agrees to these terms, which are subject to change at HomeShield’s discretion. Any updates to these terms will be effective from the “Last Updated Date” specified in this document.

Agreement Acceptance

By accepting HomeShield’s Offer, the Customer agrees to these Installation Terms and Conditions in addition to the General Terms and Conditions. These documents collectively form the entire agreement between the Customer and HomeShield.

Definitions

  • Agreement: The contract formed when the Customer accepts HomeShield’s Offer for products and services.
  • Customer: The individual or entity purchasing goods and/or services from HomeShield.
  • Goods: The window and door security film products, materials, and any related items to be installed by HomeShield.

  • Offer: The proposal provided by HomeShield detailing the specific products and services, including terms and conditions, to be accepted by the Customer.
  • Location: The premises at which the installation of goods will occur, as designated by the Customer.

Customer Responsibilities Before Installation

The Customer must prepare the location for installation by ensuring the following:

  1. Clear Access: Remove all items such as blinds, curtains, furniture, and other obstructions from the window and door areas to allow unhindered access.
  2. Cleaning: Ensure windows and doors are free from dirt, oil, grease, and other residues. Clean thoroughly using appropriate methods such as soapy water and a microfiber cloth.
  3. Disconnection of Alarm Systems: Any security systems connected to windows or doors should be deactivated before installation begins.
  4. Pet and Child Safety: The Customer should ensure that pets and children are kept away from the work area during the installation process to avoid distractions and maintain safety.

Failure to properly prepare the location may result in delays, and HomeShield reserves the right to reschedule the installation. In such cases, the Customer may be subject to additional charges.

Installation Process

HomeShield will carry out the installation with the utmost care and professionalism. However, the Company is not responsible for any damage caused by items that were not removed by the Customer as instructed.

  1. Installation Environment: HomeShield ensures the surrounding area is protected from any installation-related debris, but the Customer should be aware that some residual moisture may be present after the installation.
  2. Material Disposal: HomeShield will dispose of any debris directly resulting from the installation process.

Post-Installation Care and Maintenance

To maintain the performance of the security films, the Customer agrees to follow these maintenance guidelines:

  1. Drying Period: Allow at least 30 days for the film to cure and adhere fully to the glass surface. During this time, avoid cleaning the windows.
  2. Cleaning Instructions: After the curing period, the Customer may clean the films with a soft, non-abrasive cloth. Use mild cleaning agents (e.g., Windex) and avoid harsh chemicals or scrubbing materials.
  3. No Abrasive Tools: Never use razor blades, coarse cloths, or abrasive cleaning tools on the films.
  4. Temperature Precautions: Do not expose the newly installed films to extreme temperatures for at least 30 days after installation.

Failure to follow the maintenance guidelines may void any warranties associated with the goods.

Drying Time and Ventilation

The security films are installed using a water-based adhesive. The curing process requires adequate ventilation to ensure that moisture evaporates properly from beneath the film. The drying time may vary based on environmental factors such as temperature and humidity but generally takes between 60 and 150 days. If the windows are covered with blinds, curtains, or other materials that restrict airflow, the drying time may be prolonged.

Limitations of Liability

HomeShield is not responsible for damage resulting from:

  • Improper care or maintenance of the films after installation.
  • Customer’s failure to prepare the premises adequately for installation.
  • Any damage to windows, doors, or furnishings that may result from the installation or removal of existing films.

Post-Installation Repairs and Modifications

Any minor repairs or cosmetic finishing, such as touch-up painting, drywall repairs, or adjustments to door frames and trims, are not covered by HomeShield and must be arranged by the Customer independently.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

If the Customer wishes to reschedule or cancel the installation, a minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required. Failure to notify within this time frame may result in a rescheduling fee.

Home Shield Canada
Pre-Installation and Post-Installation Care Guidelines

Pre-Installation Care

To ensure a smooth and efficient installation, please follow these guidelines before our team arrives to perform the installation:

1. Clear the Area Around Windows and Doors

  • Remove blinds, curtains, shutters, and any other window coverings.
  • Move any furniture, desks, or objects that may obstruct access to the windows and doors. Ensure the area is clear for at least 3 feet around each window and door.

2. Clean the Windows and Doors

  • Thoroughly clean all windows and doors to remove dirt, grease, oil, pet hair, or any other debris.
  • Use a microfiber cloth and soapy water to wipe down the surfaces. This will help ensure proper adhesion of the film.

3. Disconnect Security Systems

  • If your windows or doors are connected to alarm systems, please deactivate them for the duration of the installation.

4. Protect Pets and Children

  • For safety reasons, please ensure that pets and children are kept away from the installation area during the service.

5. Remove Existing Window Films or Accessories

  • If there are any existing films or accessories such as stickers or adhesives on the windows, please remove them before the installation team arrives.

6. Access to the Premises

  • Ensure the installation area is easily accessible and free of obstacles. If the premises are not adequately prepared, the installation may need to be rescheduled, and additional charges may apply.

Post-Installation Care

Once the installation is complete, proper care and maintenance are essential for the longevity and performance of the security films. Please follow these instructions:

1. Allow the Film to Dry

  • After installation, the film requires a curing period of at least 30 days for the adhesive to fully bond to the glass.
  • During this time, please avoid cleaning the windows.

2. Cleaning Instructions

  • After 30 days, you may clean the windows using the following methods:
    • Use a soft, non-abrasive cloth to gently wipe the film.
    • For cleaning solutions, mild products like Windex are safe to use.
    • Avoid using any abrasive tools (e.g., razors, steel wool, or rough cloths) on the film.

3. Temperature Precautions

  • Do not expose the film to extreme temperatures for at least 30 days after installation. This includes direct sunlight, heat sources, or freezing conditions.

4. Avoid Sharp Objects

  • Keep sharp objects such as furniture, tools, or other hard materials away from the window film to prevent tearing.

5. Ventilation for Faster Drying

  • For optimal drying, keep the windows uncovered. Curtains, blinds, or shades should be kept open as much as possible to allow air circulation.
  • Adequate ventilation will help moisture evaporate faster and prevent any trapped bubbles.

6. Minor Repairs and Finishing

  • Any cosmetic finishing or repairs to surrounding areas (e.g., touch-up painting, drywall, caulking) are the responsibility of the Customer and should be handled separately.

Important Notes

  • Failure to follow these care instructions may void warranties associated with your installed films.
  • For any issues with the installation or if you have any questions regarding care, please do not hesitate to contact us.
